June is coming to an end and we enter the appetizing month of July, which promises a number of events in Figueira da Foz, with a special focus on the more urban beaches.
But let’s start with the movies. Today on CAE we air “You Must Come See Her“, a naturalistic and subtly intellectualized metafiction, between music, books and ping-pong, about two young adult couples who are strangers to the same condition.
The Teatro da Trindade, in Buarcos, which alone deserves the trip, will also receive today “O Vôo da Borboleta“, a show for inclusion with the participation of elements of APPACDM de Coimbra, Associação Olhar 21 and Projeto Aproximar.
An organization of the Rotary Club of Figueira da Foz.
The highlight of the weekend goes to Figueira Beach Rugby, an event in which MeetFigueira is media-partner and which takes place on Saturday and Sunday.
Figueira Beach Rugby is one of the biggest beach rugby events in Europe, which brings together hundreds of athletes and amateur beach rugby practitioners on Buarcos Beach, a variant where speed is king!
In 2023 the record of teams in Figueira Beach Rugby will be broken. In all, 55 teams, 36 male and 19 female, will gather in Figueira da Foz to celebrate #BeachRugbyMadnessVibes.
Come along, the show is always one of great celebration and excitement.
Saturday there are wines for all tastes in Figueira da Foz. The Eurostars Oasis Plaza Hotel will host the 3rd Figueira Wine Fest, presented as “the biggest wine event in Figueira da Foz“, with this edition with more than 40 producers from north to south of the country to taste. This is an initiative of Garrafeira Rótulos & Expressões, in Rua da República.
The feasts of the saints continue, now under the command of St. Peter. The Parish Council of Buarcos and São Julião marks the patron saint of Buarcos with a Popular Festival in Praça dos Navegantes, animated by the band AFK.
The Sociedade Filarmónica Figueirense celebrates its respectable 181st Anniversary this year and opens the celebrations with a grandiose Night of Variety with the Light Orchestra of the host entity, the Tuna Acordes da Foz and The John Doe Legacy.
Admission costs 7€.
For the weekend there are a number of festivities throughout the county: Paião, Alhadas, Marinha das Ondas and São Pedro will be on fire!
Sunday there is BMX at the Municipal Track of Vila Verde, with the dispute of the National BMX Race Championship 2023.
The atmosphere of excitement will start the day before, with official training starting at 16:00 on Saturday. On Sunday, from 10.30am, the races will begin, involving qualifying heats, elimination heats and finally the eagerly awaited finals.
Last but not least, we highlight the unmissable exhibition The Sea is Our Land, an important essay that marks the sea’s relationship with territories, people and the environment, where Figueira da Foz has a very strong presence.
Patent until 2024 at Meeting Point, next to Esplanada Silva Guimarães.
Enjoy and have a great weekend!
