August is coming to an end, but the events in the municipality of Figueira da Foz aren’t slowing down

There’s nothing better than ending the month with a Festival dedicated to one of the region’s gastronomic ex-libris: the Quiaios chorizo.

Whole or sliced? Whatever!“The important thing is to go to Quiaios on the 25th, 26th and 27th and enjoy an event that “brings with it tradition, gastronomy and lots of entertainment“.

According to the organizers, the program is based above all on promoting the traditional chorizo from Quiaios, but it also has a strong recreational and festive component and this year’s headliner is Herman José. It also includes “children’s and traveling entertainment and offers a free babysitting service so that parents and children can have a great time!”.

The Chouriço Festival is organized by the Quiaios Parish Council, with the support of the Figueira da Foz Municipality.

The most emblematic and iconic basketball court in the country is hosting another edition – the 5th – of the Traseiras Tournament in Figueira da Foz this weekend (at the back of Rua Dr. Luis Carriço and Rua Dr. Nogueira de Carvalho). Traseiras Tournament .
MeetFigueira is a partner of the 2023 edition, following closely on site and in this page (photos will appear here throughout the weekend).

In the evening, one of the options is to go to the movies: AOS NOSOS AMORES is being shown today, August 25, at 9:30 p.m. at the Centro de Artes e Espetáculos (CAE). This feature film, part of a cycle dedicated to French filmmaker Maurice Pialat, won the 1984 César Award (Best Film and Most Promising Actress, Sandrine Bonnaire) and the 1983 Louis Delluc Award, the year of the director’s debut.

But if you’d rather stay in the book area, just be in Buarcos at 9.30pm: the writer Pedro Mexia comes to Vacations with Books and talk about his first foray into dramaturgy, the work “Sweden“, which was on stage at the São João National Theater, directed by Nuno Cardoso.

Still on the subject of literature, on Saturday the 26th, at 9.30 p.m., the highlight will be the writer Lourenço Seruya, who has dedicated his talent tocrime, coming to Buarcos for Férias com Livros to talk about his latest novel “Crime na Quinta das Lágrimas“, set in Coimbra.

If you opt for music, the band QQ Garage will liven up Saturday night, the 26th, at the Jet 7.5 bar in Praça Dr. João Ataíde.

As part of the celebrations for the 16th anniversary of the Salt Museum Center – (A) Taste With a Taste of Salt – and as a result of a collaboration with MAREFOZ, science, the environment and the tradition of salted meats continue to be highlighted through a series of activities that will allow you to explore various themes.

Today and tomorrow, Friday and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Cabedelo Beach in Figueira da Foz is the setting for another edition of the CABEDELO ART EXPERIENCE 2023This is an event for lovers of art and culture, where the creators work on their works together with the bathers. This is a “special” edition as it pays homage to the painter Mário Silva (1929-2016), whose bust can be found in the new square by the beach.

For three days – August 25, 26 and 27 – the Sociedade Filarmónica Paionense(Paião) is promoting the Tasquinhas de Verão, an event that brings together local cuisine and music.

On Sunday, August 27, at 9.30 p.m., “PLANTS OF THE WORLD“, a work by Fernanda Botelho, will be shown in Buarcos, as part of Férias com Livros (Holidays with Books).

Also on Sunday, here’s an original way to get to know Mallorca and its traditions, especially those linked to rice cultivation: a tractor ride, with a visit to the parish’s landmarks, lunch, a snack and prizes for the best tractors. If you don’t have a tractor, come along and sign up anyway, as everyone is welcome.

The party in Mallorca continues at 9.30pm in Largo da Feira Nova with the band Canta Brasil.

In Alqueidão, the Festivities in Honor of Our Lady of Health are back, with four days of great entertainment and religious celebrations.

Throughout this weekend, Figueira da Foz has a variety of entertainment opportunities to enjoy to the full. Invite your loved ones or friends and explore all the options available in this town.

We wish you a wonderful weekend!
