There’s nothing better than getting off to a good start with the theatrical comedy “Tenho um papel para ti!” (I’ve got a part for you!), to be performed today at 9.30 p.m. at the Figueira da Foz Arts and Entertainment Center. With a text by Roberto Pereira and performances by Ana Guiomar, João Paulo Rodrigues, Inês Herédia and Diogo Valsassina, this play is aimed at people over 16.
Saturday is, for many, shopping day at the Municipal Market! Before or after, depending on whether or not you’re an early riser, watch, at 10:30 a.m. on the Engenheiro Silva Municipal Market, to Showcooking with Chef Tiago JesusThe speaker, representing the Professional School of Figueira da Foz – INTEP, will teach how to make two recipes using local products: Seed and Salicornia Bread, and Codfish Rice (from Baixo Mondego).
Also on Saturday, at 10.30 a.m. at the Meeting Point, educators from the Casa da Criança de São Julião will present the book “Luís e as Poças de Maré“, written and illustrated by children. This activity, aimed at families and educators, is part of the Ecology Day celebrations and is organized by Quinta Ciência Viva do Sal and the Portuguese Ecology Society (SPECO).

Still on the subject of books, the Pedro Fernandes Tomas Municipal Public Library is hosting the launch of the book “Sentimentos Escritos” by Isabel Figueiredo, published by Editora Capítulo (Grupo Editorial Atlântico), at 4pm on Saturday. In this book, the Figueiredo author talks about “feelings and soul”, about a rebellious teenager who writes verses on paper because of her insecurities and fears about the past, present and future. Admission is free.
On Saturday, at 6 p.m., the Bandas ao Coreto event brings the Philharmonic of the Sociedade Boa União Alhadense to the bandstand of the Figueira da Foz Municipal Garden.

On Sunday 17th, starting at 11am, you will have an excellent opportunity to learn more about Nepalese Hindu traditions: the TEEJ celebrationsThis is the richest and most eye-catching event in the Nepalese community, which is especially experienced by women, who celebrate the happiness of marriage, prosperity and family values.
Organized by the Nepal Group and Portugal Cultural, with the collaboration of the Sem Diferenças E8G Project, implemented by Cáritas Coimbra, and with the support of the Municipality of Figueira da Foz, this event aims, among other things, to promote multiculturalism.
The initiative, open to the whole community, aims to showcase aspects of Nepalese religion, culture and gastronomy. In the morning there will be some more recreational activities. From 1pm, the gastronomic and cultural component and some of the most important religious aspects of the festival take place.
On Sunday, at 3 p.m., the Band Meeting will take place in the Market Square in the town of Quiaios. This was organized by the Quiaense Philharmonic, which invited the philharmonics of Vouzela and Carvalhais de Lavos for an afternoon of music and tradition.
Until Sunday, the village of Copeiro, in the parish of Paião, is celebrating its patron saint, São Bento, with a festive and religious program (see poster). Another excellent opportunity to get to know our county’s traditions better!
