Have you decided what to do in Figueira da Foz this weekend? If you don’t have any plans yet, here is a selection of unmissable events for all tastes! From music, theater, literature, gastronomy and more, there are options for all interests. Check out our suggestions!

This weekend’s highlight is the concert by THE GIFT, who will present their 10th studio album, CORAL, on Saturday. The album features a 48-piece classical choir recorded in Vienna and the voice of Sónia Tavares, accompanied by electronics that are sometimes raw and intense, sometimes subtle.

On Friday, CAE’s Interior Garden will host Jazz no Café Concerto After Movie, with Lourenço Ataíde and Inês Osório, both former contestants of the program “The Voice Portugal”, as guests of the Jazz Orchestra of CAE’s School of Arts. Admission is free.

On Saturday, the Municipal Auditorium will host the play “O Ensaio”, directed by Guilherme de Bastos Lima and integrated in the youth theater project PANOS of the Dona Maria II National Theater. The show tackles issues such as gender identity and the role of women, in a modern and relevant staging.

The writer Clementina Rosa Matos will be in Figueira da Foz on Saturday to launch her work “Linda como um Cravo”, winner of the Teixeira Gomes Literary Prize 2022. The session will feature a presentation by Figueiran entrepreneur Ana Machado.

Also on Saturday, Direito de Resposta Associação Cultural will hold a super metal night at its venue on Morraceira Island, featuring three Portuguese hard-rock bands.

Also on Saturday, Rancho Rosas de Maio will organize a great Fado Night with Cris Caixeiro and Susana Apóstolo, accompanied by Sílvio Girão and Cesário Rama. The gastronomic component will be on account of the traditional caldo verde, roasted chorizo, homemade broa and rice pudding.

On Sunday, Santana will host one of the world premieres of ‘Sin+fonia pela Paz‘, with the participation of the Lares Philharmonic, the Santana Band and the presence of composers Charalampos Makris, Ilio Volante, Francisco José Rosal Nadales and Francisco M. Relva Pereira.

In the morning, the Núcleo Museológico do Sal will organize an interpretive walk on the Salinas Route, a free activity and ideal for the whole family. Advance registration should be made via e-mail to nucleo.sal@cm-figfoz.pt.

To end Sunday in beauty, watch at CAE – Center for Arts and Shows of Figueira daFoz the preview of the Documentary Buarcos – The Unridden Ones.

You can learn about the history of the epic wave that has been ridden by locals for decades. The documentary is authored by Timelapse-Media in collaboration with the Municipality of Figueira da Foz, with the contribution of João Traveira, Luís Pereira, João Serpa, Ivo Cação, João Filipe Belo and with the participation of several local surfers.

Several restaurants in the municipality continue to participate in the 32nd edition of the Raia Gastronomic Festival, organized by the Figueira com Sabor a Mar association.

Fort of Santa Catarina

The Fort of Santa Catarina was built on the foundations of a fortification existing since the reign of D. João I (1385-1433).
