The traditional Festivities of São João – Festivities of the City of Figueira da Foz are already in full swing. After the Sardine Festival, which took place this year on the south bank of the Mondego, in Portinho da Gala, follows the Fair of the Parishes, from 15 to 25, in Dr. João Ataíde square, “a showcase of the best that Figueirense gastronomy has to offer”.
Figueira da Foz’s São João Festivities culminate on the 24th, City Day, with a religious celebration and popular marches on the beach avenue.
The range of artists that will liven up the nights of the S. João 2023 edition includes a luxury trio: “Miguel Araújo ” (16), “one of the most complete artists of his generation”, Toy (21) always “hopelessly in love”, sensual and humorous. Banda Os Quatro e Meia (on the 24th at 00:15), headliner, will make the earth spin in the “night” of São João.”
On the 23rd and 24th another tradition of these celebrations is fulfilled, with the parade of the Marchas Populares on the marginal avenue.
In the park of Avenida de Espanha (seagull park), at the São João Fair, from 15 to 24, there will be the usual farting trailers and equipment to have fun: bumper cars, carousels and Ferris wheel.
On the 24th, St. John’s Day and municipal holiday, the program includes the Solemn Mass in the Mother Church of S. Julião and the Blessing of the Sea with the academic tuna from Figueirense Neptuna, in Praça da Europa.
