The Wednesdays with Map are an initiative of the Mondego Sports Association – Ori Mondego and began in 2017, with the purpose of making Orienteering known to Figueirenses, and through this sport, with a map in hand, rediscover the city. Since 2019 it has been part of the municipal project Sport for all. On the 28th, the club will mark the 100th edition of the Quarters.
as the organization explains: “Every Wednesday we meet at 7 pm, at a different point in the city each week. We distribute a specific map of the sport that includes the area where the checkpoints are, and after a short briefing the participant sets off to discover the streets, gardens, nooks and crannies of the city.”
Alone or in a group, walking or running, everyone chooses the route they want, and how they want to do it. There is no age limit or number of entries. Registration is free but compulsory, includes insurance and map offer.
